1940. Mátyás Király sor **

For the 500th anniversary of the birth of King Matthias, the post office issued a commemorative stamp series of 5 denominations with a 50% premium. The Transylvanian Men's Association proposed the issue of commemorative stamps.

The stamp image was designed by Gyula Tóth on the basis of an order won through an invitational tender.

It was put into circulation on July 1, 1940, valid until December 31, 1940 under the number 226.614/3. s. by decree (P.R.T. No. 1940/26), 267.756/3 was withdrawn from circulation. s. by decree (P.R.T. No. 1940/54).

Sold by all Treasury Post Offices and the. Stamp sales office only in series, otherwise without restrictions. Sales were discontinued on September 30, 1940.
